During the month of March the Marquette Police Department responded to a total of 51 incidents, including 22 traffic stops which resulted in 10 municipal citations being issued. Additionally during the month of March, the Marquette Police Department conducted 3 criminal investigations, which resulted in two suspects being booked into the McPherson County Adult Detention Facility and one Municipal Criminal Notice to Appear being issued.
Attached to this report is a breakdown of calls for service for the Marquette Police Department during the month of March. Additionally this month, multiple individuals were contacted by officers regarding code violations on their properties. Property owners are being given time to correct the violations before a more formal process is initiated.
On April 7th the Annual Animal Vaccination Clinic was held and was well attended. All dogs must be registered by April 30th and we will begin issuing citations on May 1st for those who have not registered their dogs.
The Police Department has been updated with new desks previously approved by council, as well as new paint, flooring, and electrical work. The Office is now much more functional for us. SmartCop is now in use by the Police Department and is fully functional.
On March 21st Marquette Municipal Court was held and had 7 cases presented before the Municipal Judge.
During March, I completed medical training with Marquette EMS and will be continuing to train with EMS and will be assisting them on local calls. We have also began the planning with Marquette EMS for the Annual Safety Day event, which will be held on Friday May 24th.
