Marquette Police Department Blotter - July 2024

Marquette PD Activity Reports for the month of July.

During the month of July the Marquette Police Department responded to a total of 34 calls for service, including 13 traffic stops which resulted in 7 traffic citations being issued through Municipal Court. Additionally, 2 cases were investigated this month, both of which were traffic crashes.

Officer Birdsong has begun his employment with the City and has been completing training with both Captain King and Chief Webb. Additionally, he attended a two day training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Center in Hutchinson. The training is geared towards new law enforcement officers and is part of a series that will be completed over a three year period. He will attend the second session in September.

Additionally, both Captain King and Officer Birdsong attended a Standardized Field Sobriety Test Refresher Course in Hillsboro. This course is designed to help officer’s stay proficient in their testing of impaired drivers. This course was offered at no-cost to our department.

I applied for a grant for equipment from the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association (USDSA) and we were given 3 individual trauma kits for officers to have and 3 new flashlights as well. The USDSA offers this equipment annually and provides agencies and officers with various equipment to assist in their duties.

Chief Webb and Officer Birdsong along with members of the Sheriff’s Office helped with traffic control for the 150th Celebration Run, participated in the Parade, and provided event security for the Rodeo both nights.

Respectfully,

Chief Aaron Webb, #107
