During the month of August the Marquette Police Department responded to a total 39 calls for service, which resulted in 5 cases and 8 traffic citations being issued. Of the 5 cases, 1 adult was arrested on a felony warrant through McPherson County District Court and 3 cases were filed in Municipal Court.
Officer Birdsong has been continuing his training with Chief Webb and Captain King and is progressing very well. He attended a three day Patrol Officer Training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center earlier this month and was able to put what he has been learning into practice during that scenario based training.
On September 11th the Police Department will be conducting firearms training at the Tree Limb Dump and it will be closed during that training.
September 21st is annual Thunder on the Smokey Event and the Police Department will have officers there for the events. On October 4th the Police Department will be participating in a Safety Event for Pre-School students, which is being hosted by the Fire Department.

08/19/24 24-035 Information Report Documentation #107
Resident made a theft report of United States Currency from his residence and provided a possible suspect. A short time after making the initial report the resident called back in and advised he had found the missing money and apologized to the individual he had accused.
08/19/24 24-036 Disturbance NTA/Municipal Court #107
Officer was dispatched to the report of a disturbance in progress at an apartment complex. An intoxicated individual was upset that they had been reported to the property manager for being a loud nuisance, so they decided to show the neighbors exactly how loud they could be. Individual was issued Uniform Notice to Appear and Complaint 2004 for Disorderly Conduct and given a court date of September 19th, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
08/19/24 24-037 Warrant Arrest Arrest/District Court #107
Officer located a subject with a felony warrant through McPherson County District Court for failure to register as a sex offender. Subject was arrested and transported to the McPherson County Adult Detention Facility.
08/19/24 24-038 Animal Violation NTA/Municipal Court #109
Officers responded to two separate reports of a group of dogs running at large and attacking individuals, one incident took place on 8/18 and the second took place on 8/19. The owner of the dogs has previously been in municipal court for the same violations. The owner was issued Uniform Notice to Appear and Complaint 2005 and 2006, both for Dog at Large x5 and Vicious Animal. The owner was given a court date of September 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

Officers responded to the report of a dog at large that knocked over property belonging to the reporting party. Contact was made with the owner of the animal and they were issued Uniform Notice to Appear and Complaint 2008 for Dog at Large and given a court date of September 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
