During the month of April the Marquette Police Department responded to a total of 50 incidents, including 19 traffic stops which resulted in 12 municipal citations being issued. Additionally during the month of March, the Marquette Police Department conducted 9 case investigations, which resulted in 6 Municipal Notice to Appears being issued and two juveniles being charged in McPherson County District Court.
Attached to this report is a breakdown of calls for service for the Marquette Police Department during the month of March.
On April 7th the Annual Animal Vaccination Clinic was held and was well attended. Per City Code all dogs must be registered by April 30th and there were numerous individuals this year who did not meet the deadline. 41 Municipal Notice to Appear were issued for animal violations and mailed out in early May. Individuals will need to register their dogs before the end of May and pay a $25 fine per dog for being past the deadline. If they still do not comply they must appear in Municipal Court on June 20th and will incur an additional $25 fines as well as $125.50 in court costs.
Marquette Municipal Court was held on April 18th and we had multiple appearances. The majority of pending criminal cases were continued to May 16th for appointed council to have time to review cases.

4/3/24 24-015 JV Request For Prosecution District Court #108
On April 3rd, 2024 a criminal damage report was taken after city property was found to have been vandalized. Request for prosecution against two juveniles was filed in McPherson County District Court.
4/12/24 24-016 Arrest/NTA (Traffic) Municipal Court #107
On April 12, 2024 reports of an individual driving recklessly around the City of Marquette were reported. Multiple witness statements were obtained and the driver was issued citation 1013 for reckless driving in violation of S.T.O. 29 and given a court date of May 16th, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
4/12/24 24-017 Arrest/NTA (Criminal) Municipal Court #107
On April 12, 2024 the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office took an initial report for a battery that occurred in the City Limits of Marquette on April 11th, 2024. The incident was forwarded to the Marquette Police Department for investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation NTA 2002 was issued for Misdemeanor Battery in violation of U.P.O.C. 3.1 and a court date of May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM was given.
4/13/24 24-018 Arrest/NTA (Code Violation) Municipal Court #108
On April 13, 2024 an officer was conducting an investigation regarding the possible violation of city codes when he was bit by a dog on the foot. The animal’s owner was issued NTA 1014 for No Proof of Vaccination and vicious animal. A court date of May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM was given.
4/14/24 24-019 Arrest/NTA Juvenile (Traffic) Municipal Court #107
On April 14th, 2024 a report of a mailbox being vandalized was reported. An investigation was conducted and with the help of a neighbors security cameras a vehicle description was provided. The vehicle was located and the owner was located. The driver was identified as a teenager and admitted to striking the mailbox on accident. He was issued NTA 1017 reference the accident and given a court date of May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The Police Department installed a new mailbox for the homeowner.
4/14/24 24-020 Arrest/NTA (Traffic) Municipal Court #108
On April 15, 2024 a report of two individuals doing burnouts and racing were reported to the Marquette Police Department. The individuals were identified from video of the incident and were later contacted. The two drivers were issued NTA 1015 and NTA 1020 for racing on a public roadway in violation of S.T.O. 37 and given court dates of May 16th at 1:00 PM. 4/16/24

4/26/24 24-023 Assist Lindsborg PD District Court #107
On April 26, 2024 the Lindsborg Police Department requested assistance with a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Harrison Street. MQPD responded to assist and the driver was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operate a motor vehicle without registration, no insurance, and operate a motor vehicle while revoked.
